Step Five: Buying
Ignore the item stats. This is the screen we’re interested in. There are several useful details in here.
Sell to Vendor: Tells you what you get if you just sell it to a vendor. Worst case, we bid 12 copper and we win, we sell it for 2 gold. Not a bad rate of return.
Disenchants Into: Tells us the components it disenchants into and roughly the odds of getting each one. It pays to know what each one is worth, but don’t worry, you’ll pick that up once you start playing the markets.
Disenchant Value: Tells you the value of the stuff you’ll get if you disenchant it.
Disenchanting Requires (Number) Skill: Tells you the skill level you’ll need to disenchant it. This particular item can’t be disenchanted at our low level, but this may be an incentive to move up. However, considering the value of the item itself, there’s no sense worrying about it.
Market Price: Tells you the rough Market Price.
Suggestion: Tells you Auctioneer’s professional opinion, whether you should sell the item to a vendor, disenchant it (if you can), or put the item on the Auction House. In this case, it tells us we should put it in the Auction House.
If it suggests disenchanting, it’s a simple matter of pressing the Disenchant button, clicking the item in question, and collecting the reagents it disenchants into.
Proceed through the Auction House and use the Bid button to Bid on underpriced items you can disenchant or resell for a big gain. Try to avoid using Buyouts. The idea here is to get the item for the lowest price possible. Don’t worry if you don’t win anything right away, patience is part of the game. Bid until you can bid no more, but leave yourself enough spare silver to place items on the Auction House.
When you log back in, you should have won at least some items and collected the money for the auctions you lost out on. From there, we proceed to the best part of this, Selling.
